Mother Tongue

To love and to hate, do we need language?

To smile and to cry, do we need language?

To do good and to harm, do we need language?

To dream and to be lazy, do we need language?

To give alms and to beg, do we need language?

Our nature is beyond the boundaries of a certain language.

But, the pleasure of doing these things in our mother tongue

is indescribable in any language.

Today is International Mother Tongue Day!

Let us love our mother tongue.

Let our mother tongue exist through us

And let us not push it to an extinct one.

Respect all languages as they are

the mother tongues of some others.
